Gabriel had considered calling off Everly’s wild plan several times an hour, all day long. Yet every time he’d taken his cell phone out to dial her office, he’d stared at it before putting it back in his pocket.
He owed it to her to do this. To try it and see if his curiosity was a product of the environment he’d been part of for so long—one where there wasn’t any outlet for his repressed desire than the men surrounding him—or something his subconscious was trying to tell him. He didn’t intend to toy with Everly’s emotions, so it was better to find out with her than bottle it up and realize later that this had been another mistake. One that would impact her as much as him.
At least that’s what he kept telling himself. He still jumped when Everly’s signature knock sounded on the door right before she used her code to let herself in as usual. She peeked inside as she called his name.
When he yelled hello, she entered then smiled as he approached the grand entryway from the other end of the adjoining living area. This time she wasn’t alone. A tall guy, who wore an excellently tailored suit, trailed behind her. His spiky blond hair and bright green eyes were only outshined by his killer smile. When Everly did something, she really went all the way.
If there was a guy Gabriel could be attracted to, this man was probably the one.
Despite his trepidation, he felt instantly at ease. He should have realized any friend of Everly’s would be the kind of person he would get along with, too.
Things could easily have been awkward given the situation.
They weren’t.
As if it was an everyday occurrence to be introduced to someone your friend had arranged a hookup with, the guy strode straight to Gabriel. He extended his hand. “Hey, I’m Colton. Everly told me you’re trying to figure some shit out. I’m down for some sexy times with you both.”
New life goals. Gabriel immediately wanted to be more like that—straightforward, unashamed, confident. Open and ready for new experiences. Bold.
That was attractive.
So he simply stood there and let Colton use their lingering grip to draw him in. He didn’t flinch when Colton laid his lips on Gabriel’s, then proceeded to kiss the shit out of him. Unlike Everly, he wasn’t soft. Or gentle. He took…and gave.
For a few moments Gabriel was too shocked to do more than kiss him back. Their exchange was intense and a little violent. It thrilled him when Colton let him know by example that he didn’t have to be careful. He could let loose all the passion inside him. It was so weird, like he was watching himself from outside his body.
Did it feel good? Shit, yes.
Did he want to keep doing it? Not so much.
He’d rather make out with Everly, even if their contact was sweeter and slower than this frantic blast of infatuation and wonder he exchanged with Colton.
As quickly as it had exploded, it fizzled out.
